Narvie Harris Elementary School Reviews

Narvie J's parents truly come together and bond with teachers. The school itself really speaks to the idea of 'community'. Teachers call you personally to talk about your childs successes as well as areas of improvement. Although they have a new principal and he seems to be a little less 'familiar' with that connection, he takes a genuine interest in the students as a whole and has that 'new principal' spunk and energy. My daughter has been there from pre-K and she is now in the 2nd grade, she has truly excelled at Narvie academically. I'd expressed concern about her being 'advanced' and those concerns were taken seriously. As a result, she was tested for discovery early on and was accepted into that program. The teachers really challenge the students to EXCEL not just to do well. Additionally, Narvie has a HUGE afterschool 'life' ie plays, talent shows, chorus.

I have 2 children who have been at Narvie since pre-k and the last one graduates this year. The foundation they have received has made me confident that they can go any where and excel. The majority of the teachers are genuinely concerned about their students. The extracurricular activites are top notch and the Chorus is the best in Atlanta. I am so sad to be leaving such a wonderful school but we will continue to come back for the Christmas concerts with Mr. Strong.

I love the school's environment. It is very engaging. The teacher's are very efficient and they are very caring. The administrators are very hands on.

My daughter attended Narvie J. Harris for two years, 4th and 5th grade. She was an excellent student in her achievements at Narvie J Harris. The teachers are excellent. Narvie J Harris enhanced her discipline, music, and intellectual skills. Narvie J Harris students can compete against the best students in Dekalb County. It would be a great achievement for Dekalb County to produce more middle/high schools of this magnitude, so African American students can continue to excel in education, music and extra curriculum activities. I want to personally thank Narvie J Harris faculty and staff for teaching my child and all others at Narvie.

Since I removed our son from Marbut Theme School and placed him in Narvie J Harris his compative spirit has returned. Each day he has a full academic story to tell us. This year on the state test he far exceeded expectations. He is well rounded and a accomplished poet. Narvie J Harris is the best school in dekalb county as a whole with the CRCT test scores far exceeding a number of schools. The school has a challenging curriculum where the teachers use techniques to ensure when they teach a certain subject it is completely understood by everyone. There hands on approach with projects are excellent. The best one of all to me was the creation of their own state. The creativity far exceeds all others and this is what helps with the understanding of any subject area by the students. The parent involement far exceeds all others as well.

My son attends Narvie and he struggled coming from another school. Being at Narvie challenged him and he has done so much better. Narvie prides itself on making sure our students receive a quality education. It can be a bit challenging for the parents as well, but our kids do more and learn more than they would from any other school. Parent involvement is the key.

Narvie is the best elementary school on Dekalb County with the best chorus in the state!

Narvie J Harris is a great school with a fairly challenging ciricullam, however someone should dirrect the traffic better in the morning, parents take their sweet time letting the kids out and not pulling up far enough so that others (6-8 more vehicles) can let their children out as well. other than that best public school in South Dekalb.

Nourishing our children in all that they do Achieving all expectations Revitalizing the minds of our kids Valuable to our community Incredible Teachers & Staff Educated Adminstrators, Teachers & Students Justifiable disciplinary plans Hands On Instructions Appreciates parents input & help Requiring uniforms, keeping our kids on task Rapidly expanding our children's knowledge Inspirational to all that are involved Successful in all that they do. You see there is No Question as to why I as a parent love Narvie J. Harris Traditional Theme School! Go Dolphins! Go Dolphins! Parent Kechial Sanders

I give Narvie J Harris a 10 due mainly because of the new implementations of the school. It is even better now then in previous years.

I absolutely love Narvie. It is a great foundation for my children with the structured discipline, academics, and parental involvement. The have a strong PTA that is taken seriously from the beginning to the end of the year. There is definitely NO SLACKING when it comes to Parent, Teacher involvement. The teachers are on point and serious about their job. They are passionate about each child and not just another test score to be passed.

I am proud to say that my son has attended Narvie since pre-k. He started reading his first year of school. He is currently a second graded. The teachers at Narvie take pride in their work and believe in students ability to learn.

Narvie is a great school, they helped my son to the point where he is now taking the SAT for the Duke Tip program. Check out their website www.narviepta.org. They are focused on helping and ensuring our children succeed in education and in life.

As a parent of NJH for six years, the school is outstanding in academics, leadership, and activities for children. We have three children that attend of love NJH. Narvie is a school of excellence that stresses the importance of parental involvement and challenges our children academically. The afterschool program is a blessing to working parents. I love how the faculty and staff treat every child as an individual. Parents have stressed their concern about children that have special needs. I'm told that programs such as Special Education and fitness for kids are in the planning stages or are being discussed to assist families that require additional help for their children. I feel comfortable knowing that when our children go to NJH they are safe. My prayer is that DeKalb build more middle schools in our community that meets or exceed the same expectations as NJH. BES

Narvie J. Harris has been more then I could have hoped for. My son is in kindergarten and has enjoyed every day of school. The teachers and staff are all wonderful and active in each students development. The one thing I would suggest to anyone considering sending their child to Narvie, is to truly understand that the staff and teachers expect a lot from the students and the parents. Parents are expected to fully particapate in their childs/childens education. The curriculum is a little more demanding than most elementary schools but the results are outstanding. Narvie offers music, computer, art, physcial education, and spanish classes. I can only hope that by the time my son finishes fifth grade, they will open another school for him to continue his education within Narvie's system.

Narvie is an excellent dchool that stresses disclipline that is necessary for the children to develop and learn. I would recommend that the selection process used for the enrollment be reviewed as it pertains to siblings. It would be great if my daughter could have had the same opportunities as my son by starting pre-k at Narvie J Harris, but unfortunately she was on the alternate list and not able to attend. I would love for recess to be considered in Dekalb county school system. Extra activities are offered in after scholl care which is simply awesome. Teresa Stallings

As a parent of a child with ADHD, I would not recomend this school. Although there are some good teachers there, they do not address the needs of these special children in a positive way. My son will be entering the 1st grade at Narvie but we are looking into schools that are geared toward every child not just those that need no special instructions
