Medlock Elementary School Reviews

This is a school with momentum behind it. There is a tangible and noticeable excitement that has been building over the past few years. Kids feel loved, nurtured and cherished here. They are given great preparation for their future academic lives, as well. There are a ton of great P.T.A sponsored events throughout the year and the opportunity for all parents to contribute and be a part of their child's school lives. A weekly newsletter and website keeps everyone up to date. Great school, indeed!

This is my daughter's first year at Medlock and the look on her face when she comes home so far has been the best for me.

I just love Medlock. all three of my kids attend and they each get the leval of education they need.

Our daughter is halfway through her second year at Medlock and we are very happy with the school. The principal is responsive and involved and I love the individual attention and recognition that the students receive. Art, P.E and music are all part of the curriculum and the teachers are great. Decatur/Dekalb's best kept secret in public schooling!

Our son is thriving after our his first year at Medlock, we are really confident that we made the right choice moving to this neighborhood. We love the diversity and the small community feel. His kindergarten teachers were extremely talented and dedicated--it was clear they loved coming to school as much as my son. We were especially encouraged by the individual attention he received for his love of reading. First grade just started and we are looking forward to another great year!

This is one of the few gems around.I have two kids at this school. They have done great! The wonderful teachers that are here seem to really care about their students! My wife and I actually attended this school when it went to seventh grade. The new principle is also doing a great job.I was initially apprehensive when the old principle retired. She was also great! Its been a wonderful experience going through it with my kids. Keep up the good work! Butch Godard

I have four children and they all attend medlock except for one and he has moved on to middle school and I have to say this is great school the teachers are really concerned and the principal is awesome. My children are doing very well there and the best thing about Medlock is the many nationalites. I am really thankful for this school

Medlock is a heart of this little neighborhood/Decatur. This is our first year, but we're already in love with this school. A great school, teachers are very well trained.

A jewel in Decatur. Medlock is a wonderful little school with tremendous parent involvment. I have both my daughters there and have served as co-president of the PTA. I couldn't have asked for more support from a great group of loving faculty, staff and parents.

My child has attended this school for the past four years. We love it because of it's size (small)and because of the neighborhood involvement in the school. The teachers are great and we have a wonderful new principal.I think one of it's special qualities is that it is a multicultural school and a neighborhood school. The parents are very involved at the school and the PTA works hard to fund special programs like an accelerated math program and a wireless network for the school.

I had the most terrible year ever at this school. I was at the school 3 or 4 times a week with problems. I had to go to the Board of Education 4 times during the school year. Hopefully I can get transfers for my children for the upcoming year.

My autistic child attends a Special Education class. She has shown great progress since her enrollment. The teachers are wonderful. Parent involved is encouraged in every way possible.
