Last year we only had one PTA meeting and this school term had two. This is my daughter's first year at this school. I can agree with previous statements about extracurricular activities not being available to the students. However, at the same time I have been to many activities hosted by the PTA and can say that there were alot of 'parent' involvement and participation at each events. As for other activities, i have learned that when parents are more actively involve that things will improve in your school system. 'To leave' is not always the solution when there is a problem. Sometimes we have to choose our battles and one is to fight for your children's education. The school is extremely overcrowded. There is no way the kids can be getting the individualized attention that they may require. My daughter got a new teacher a few weeks before school ended last year. I am looking to move out of the county because of the poor quality of education received. In my opinion, if we are to increase productivity, parents of Kemp children need to increase accountability. Volunteer, be of some help to your childs teacher, work with your children at home, join the PTA and become involved. They need every little bit. The scores say it all. Their teacher has been great and I have no complaints except for the after-school program. I think the weekly payment is to much for the little that the staff does with the children and the lack of supervision as well, their method of collecting fee payments and the dull mood of the staff. The school used the bus company before on previous field trips and they were great. As far as reviewing the school,I am very pleased with the school. The teachers and staff really care about the kids. The teachers and principle are very supportive and encouraging. The parents paid $50.00 for each student to go on a field trip. They were so excited. All they got was to ride around all day. No food, nothing to drink. They should of hired competent drivers, that knew where they were suppose to go. The assistant principle wasn't even there when the busses left at 6:30a.m.Our children were subjected to un-necessary danger and the drivers didn't even know how to get our kids back to the school.There is alot of incompetent people taking charge of our children. Someone should of ask the drivers did they know where they were suppose to go? They could have used a map.”
