Atlanta History

Atlanta, Georgia lies within Fulton County. Because of its involvement with the Civil War, Atlanta was associated with the phoenix. Many civil rights leaders were born in Atlanta, Georgia.


The original inhabitants of Atlanta were the Creek and Cherokee Indians. These Indian tribes were forced to endure the Trail of Tears.


Atlanta, Georgia saw involvement with the Battle of Peachtree Creek and the Battle of Atlanta. The book Gone With the Wind pictorilized  Atlanta, Georgia. Famous people associated with Atlanta, Georgia were General John Bell Hood, Stephen Long, John Thrasher, Lemual Grant, and Father Thomas O’Reilley.


Among the area businesses are Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and MARTA.
