Artist Bio
Hi, my name is Rhonda Walton.I am especially inspired by vintage post and greeting cards, and all forms of 'Americana'. Some of my favorite artists are the well known Pennsylvania Folk Artists, Donna Atkins and John Sliney...also the legendary Warren Kimble. I love the simplicity and character in their work, and have always found it to be uplifting. I like to collect and create things that make me smile.
My sculptures are created with polymer clays, they are 100% hand formed, no molds are used. For this reason you may come across two similar, and from time to time I may replicate a design... but no two can ever be exactly alike. I generally use a white clay as my base, gesso after cooking, and then mix and add my own color using quality acrylics. Each sculpture is triple sealed with a matte varnish and permanently affixed to a finished wooden base. From concept to finished product, depending on size each sculpture takes approximately 3 days to complete.
Most of my paintings are created in acrylics on artist stretched canvas or canvas board..but I will honestly paint just about anything that will stand still long enough. I enjoy painting on wood (in particular old cabinet doors, and furniture), bottles and jars. I like to recycle 'old throw-aways' and give them new life.
