Dolce Enoteca e Ristorante: Contemporary Italian with a Hollywood Flair

Jun 2, 2009

Dolce Enoteca e Ristorante is a dream come true for Atlanta gourmets who enjoy celebrity watching.

The modern Italian restaurant and lounge in the hip Atlantic Station is Georgia’s outpost of the trendy West Hollywood eatery. They share the ultimate L.A. pedigree, celebrity ownership, including Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama.

As for the ambiance, let’s let Dolce’s purple prose set the scene: “Imagine the night stars glimmering through a canopy of trees as a young woman in hip hugger jeans sips a Dolce Flirtinia on the patio. Inside, the ambient lounge music plays as the sommelier presents an aged Chianti Classico to a couple sharing an intimate dinner.”

Dolce’s interior combines high drama with intimacy: towering ceilings hung with sheer fabric panels depicting voluptuous undulating figures are accented by twinkling lights and firelight from plasma TV’s. Semi-circular white padded seating draws diners close as they dig into one of the many sinfully good dishes on the menu, featuring small dishes of Italian-style tapas.

And what a menu! Dolce’s handmade classic Italian gnocchi is stuffed with ground homemade sausage and served with vodka-tomato cream sauce, or the Dolce Signature gnocchi served in a creamy mountain of gorgonzola, fresh peas and sun-dried
tomatoes.

The menu playfully suggests “you’re crazy if you don’t order at least one of these:”
a platter of homemade burrata (a shell of solid mozzarella filled with a cream/mozzarella mixture) with prosciutto di san daniele and charred tomatoes;
the ultimate bruschetta with homemade truffle burrata and warm mushroom ragout;
crisp calamari, baby scallops, shrimp and zucchini; or tuna tartar with chile lime and wonton chips.

Not in the mood for small plates? Dolce also serves hearty meals, including a braised veal breast stuffed with roasted pepper, prosciutto, and provolone
over truffle mashed potatoes.

Servers are skilled and fast. For celebrities and others with a yen for privacy, there’s a second-level private dining room.

Dolce's Hollywood pedigree makes it a great place to spot a celebrity. Actor Chris Tucker threw a party here after a local preview of his “Rush Hour 3” movie. And if eating here doesn’t fulfill you, the place has a gift shop with souvenir candles, clothing, gift cards and music.
