Peasant Bistro is anything but common
Published: Apr 28, 2009
Despite its name, there is nothing common about the Peasant Bistro on Park Avenue West in Atlanta. The food, view and vibe are definitely fit for royalty.
The cute bistro, across from Centennial Park, is deceptive. Its small front might convince you that coffee, beignets and croissants are in store. But a few steps through the door shows that the bistro is much, much more.
Larger than expected, Peasant Bistro is an upscale restaurant perfect for both cozy meals with a special someone (brick supporting columns provide a nice separation from other tables) and get-togethers with family or a group of friends.
Soaring ceilings, sophisticated style, modern lighting and a gorgeous curved staircase greet guests as soon they walk in the door. A bar area on the first floor is fitted with counter height tables, perfect for grabbing a drink or ordering a quick bite. Upstairs, tables are dressed in crisp white linens, sturdy silverware and beautiful water goblets. Seating is arranged in such a way as to provide lovely views of the restaurant, the park and the city skyline.
Relax; take in the elegant views and ambiance while chowing down on one of the city’s best French and Mediterranean influenced menus. At lunch try the amazing chicken sandwich (chicken breast, bacon, caramelized onions and avocado, with French fries $9), the shrimp and grits ($14) or the chicken liver tartine (egg, shallots, baguette $8).
Dinner will blow you away with first-course selections of braised pork belly ($9), mussels au nage ($11) and tuna tartare ($12). Entrees include: sweet potato rRavioli ($14), pan seared scallops ($24), bouillabaisse (mussells, clams, scallops, potato, zucchini $18) and five different cuts of steak ($29-$42). Cheese courses can be enjoyed $4 for one or $10 for three.
An extensive wine and liquor menu is also available, as well as $6 desserts such as a crème brulee trio (chocolate, vanilla and coconut), ginger panna cotta with brandy snap and chocolate mousse with chocolate fudge cake.
Private dining is available and reservations are taken.
