EVOS, a restaurant that’s changing the status quo

Feb 11, 2010

Could eating at a fast food chain really help change the world and save the environment? It could if that fast food chain happened to be EVOS, a restaurant that’s changing the status quo with healthy, delicious food options and environmentally friendly products.

It’s difficult to use healthy and fast food in the same sentence but EVOS, derived from the Greek word "evolve," manages to do it somehow.

What started out in 1994 as a fast food run for three Tampa friends turned into an eye opening experience and a developed a craving for something more than the typical fast food joint provided. Cue the birth of EVOS.

If ads such as: "Our cows don’t do steroids; they’re into grass" and "Consume all the natural resources you want. We’ll cook more" don’t tell you something, the food will.

Naturally raised, hormone-free beef that tastes delicious will inspire a new way of thinking about burgers. The wraps and salads are made with organic, hormone-free ingredients. The trademarked Airbaking with special ovens means EVOS doesn’t use any oils or grease in its cooking. Airbaked Chicken Strips and Airfries (try them with the Ketchup Karma bar, which serves up four different ketchup flavors) will change your life! But don’t forget dessert. The Low Fat Organic Milkshakes and the Low Fat Real Fruitshakes (no sugary syrups here) are made with fresh and natural ingredients that will leave you guilt-free.

And that might be the best part about EVOS: the food leaves you deliciously satisfied without any regrets or the heaviness you may get after eating at other fast food places.

It’s a feel-good trend that seems to be slowly catching on with nine locations in four states, including the two newest Atlanta stores (off Roswell Road and Peachtree Street). And in keeping with the mission of its food, EVOS stores themselves are environmental conservators. In addition to using biodegradable and recyclable products, the company also utilizes sustainable building materials, Energy Star equipment and offsets 1/3 of its actual energy usage with wind energy.

So, if you’re going for good eats and world changing treats, head toward the perimeter or all the way downtown to EVOS.
