Cabernet: New York style steakhouse in the South
Oct 20, 2009
If the name tells you anything, Cabernet restaurant in Alpharetta is like a fine wine: classically distinct and perfectly dramatic.
Returning to his native New York roots, Cabernet Executive Chef Richard Holley presents the metro Atlanta area with a restaurant that recalls the grand old steakhouses of Manhattan. Everything about the restaurant –known for its steaks, seafood and top shelf alcohol – is grandiose, beginning with the dining room.
A beautifully high arched ceiling, rich woods, a warm color palate, crisp linens and a formally dressed wait staff immediately send the message that this is not your average chain steakhouse. Sink into the plush seating at your table while you sip a martini, nosh on some bread and casually observe the culinary staff preparing meals within a kitchen exposed to the dining room. In fact, the cozy but elitist atmosphere will remind you why the restaurant has received such high marks and fanfare among diners and critics alike.
Not only will the sophisticated dining environment recall that famous New York island, but the menu also pays homage to the culinary styling’s of some of the world’s top chefs who are based there.
Start your dinner off with an appetizer of Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio ($11.95), Herb Crusted Lamb Lollipops (fried shallot strings and warm mint jelly, $12.95) or Escargots in Pastry Crocks (herbs, leeks, mushrooms and garlic butter, $10.95).
Try the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass (steamed bok choy, sticky rice and teriyaki jus, $29.95), the Filet Mignon ($36.95) or the Lobster Scampi ($24.95) for dinner.
Wash it all down with one – or more – glasses of wine or champagne off Cabernet’s extensive wine list.
And if your budget doesn’t allow for trying the critically acclaimed dinner menu, Cabernet’s lunch menu caters to the recession - with deliciously budget-friendly options.
Order the Grilled Chicken Breast and Four Cheese Ravioli ($13.95), the Grilled Atlantic Salmon ($12.95) or the Chopped Sirloin Steak ($10.95). The Cabernet Express Lunch menu will get you in an out in 45 minutes for only $9.95, with a side, coleslaw and an entrée sandwich.
And don’t forget to take home leftovers because serving portions are quite large.
Online reservations are encouraged at dinner.
