Schakolad Chocolate Factory: say it with chocolate

Oct 20, 2009

Schakolad may be fun to say, but it’s even better to taste. Despite the fancy name, you don’t need a passport to enjoy European chocolates, just visit the Schakolad Chocolate Factory in Alpharetta.

The company name is derived from a combination of founder, Baruch Schaked’s last name with the word “chocolate.” The unique play-on-words is definitely memorable, but it’s the product that has earned an enviable reputation for the small South Florida-based company, which has several franchised locations across the country including metro Atlanta.

In Alpharetta, Andrea and Bill Werkheiser’s Schakolad Chocolate Factory store is a complete sensory experience. Upon walking in the front door, the sight and smell of chocolate wraps customers in a welcomed blanket of sugar.

Visions of brightly colored gift baskets, tantalizing truffles, melt-in-your-mouth toffee and inventive novelties will dance in your head long after you leave the store (which is where online ordering is helpful).

Schakolad is also well known for its corporate gift collection. Businesses and organizations are able to “say it with chocolate.” Own a car lot? Send a chocolate Mercedes to a potential client. Work for a doctor? Send the boss a chocolate brain. Need a new marketing strategy? Pass out chocolate lollipops with your logo on them.

Schakolad makes the perfect teacher-appreciation, baby shower, wedding and birthday gifts as well. Send chocolate covered strawberries, a chocolate basket (with a custom message written on it), or use chocolate place cards at your wedding.

And diabetics should have no fear of being left out; Schakolad also sells sugar-free and low carbohydrate versions of its tasty chocolates.

Much of the chocolate sold at the Werkheiser’s Schakolad store is made in-house.

Companies looking forward to the holidays can place an order with the store on Nov. 5, 2009 and receive 15 percent off of an order to celebrate Corporate Day.
