Family Tradition Restaurant and Catering: a deliciously down home custom
Sep 23, 2009
Family Tradition Restaurant & Catering is one North Georgia custom that runs as deep as the roots of local Southern families.
Everyone knows that the holy grail of excellent restaurant service lies in home-style food served with a side of good conversation in a place where it’s not hard to imagine that everyone knows your name.
It’s a description that fits Family Tradition exactly.
With only two locations relegated solely to the Atlanta area, this is not your typical chain restaurant or catering venue. The business has grown from a small town diner into new locations (in Hickory Flat and Towne Lake) that feel more spacious but still retain that hometown everyone-knows-everyone feeling.
Cozy booths, connectable dining tables, wide wraparound porches all allow family and friends to gather for a good time and a good meal at almost any time of the day.
Family Traditions opens at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast. It’s not hard to wake up when a menu full of omelettes, eggs, grits, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, pancakes, French toast and hashbrowns are waiting for you. Get them altogether or mix-and-match them in one of the seven different breakfast platters available.
If you’re not an early bird, lunch and dinner are served anytime after 11 a.m.
Choose from the usual sandwich, salad, soup and burger selections. Or the Family Tradition Favorites menu offers meals a bit more “like grandma made.” Try the country fried steak with gravy, the hamburger steak (over half pound of lean ground chuck topped with your choice of grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, ect.) or the grilled chicken tenders (covered in Swiss cheese). And depending on where your grandma was from you might want to try the catfish fillets and battered shrimp options. An ever changing menu offers a meat of the day as well.
And if you know of a party in need of catering, why not bring in a taste of home? Family Tradition caters everything from outdoor cookouts, to elegant buffets and even sack lunches.
Whatever the hour, there’s always time for a Family Tradition.
