Nine Restaurant & Wine Bar: European café-style in Roswell
Jul 8, 2009
European flair on a recession budget is hard to achieve, but Nine Restaurant & Wine Bar manages it well. Skip the eight-hour flight across the pond because deliciously quaint dining can be found on Canton Street in Roswell.
The small family-owned restaurant appeals to the romantic in everyone. With its modernized turn-of-the-century interior and shady outdoor café-style seating, it’s the perfect spot for a lunch date with friends or a romantic evening with someone special.
Inside, peeling plaster exposes beautiful brick walls in a way that's both inviting and artistic. Dark industrial ceilings contrasted by white linen tablecloths lend an intimacy that's only furthered by pine beams and soft candlelight. And a small, but well-stocked, wine bar calls out to connoisseurs from its tucked-away corner in the back.
Outdoors, Canton Street's alive with window shoppers and antique lovers who often stop by Nine for a more casual lunch or dinner at one of the bistro tables out front. The brick pavers, hanging plants and people-watching all make Nine’s sidewalk seating area a favorite.
But it’s the gourmet American-style menu that really draws a crowd.
Appetizers like Tomato Havarti (tomatoes topped with melted Havarti cheese, $7), spinach apple salad ($8) and their famous tomato-basil soup ($6) start your meal off right.
Move onto the main entrees by trying the Wild Pacific Salmon ($15), Black & Blue Salad (tenderloin and blue cheese, $15), Surf & Turf (market price), Angel Shrimp ($14), Chicken Poblano (chicken covered in melted cheeses and roasted poblano peppers, $13), Chicken Alfredo ($13) or Sage Turkey ($15).
And Nine is famous for its many desserts, which often change with the season.
Pair it all with a perfectly matched white, red or blush wine. Servers can help choose the best wine for your meal.
