Night Out With Nature: black tie, green cause
Published: Jun 8, 2009
For several years, the Chattahoochee Nature Center has held its “Night Out With Nature” at its campus on the banks of the Atlanta river. The organization’s crucial black-tie fundraiser gala garners support for its renowned environmental education programs and draws out the "who's who" of North Georgia.
The event’s outdoor setting under a large tent lends to its ultimate purpose of creating an intimacy with nature in an unmatched locale, while at the same time adding a dose of class.
The night out serves guests a gourmet meal, provides live musical accompaniment and offers patrons a chance to take part in both live and silent fundraising auctions. Native wildlife demonstrations also show guests a bit of what the center has done for rehabbing injured animals.
In past years, the event has raised a lot of money for the center’s new Discovery Center facility. Honorary Chair and U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson will welcome guests to an exclusive first look at the facility, which will serve as the interpretive center for the entire Chattahoochee River from the mountains of North Georgia, through Atlanta and to Columbus.
The center will offer features such as interactive exhibits, live native animals and plants, as well as other learning tools. The center opens to the public until June 20.
