Midtown Tour of Homes: from bungalow to skyscraper

Published: Mar 19, 2009

Seeing firsthand how the other half lives is something many of us just can't turn down. It's that opportunity to take a peek inside another person's home that makes the Midtown Tour of Homes so irresistibly magnetic.

The Midtown Neighbors' Association will throw open the doors to several Midtown homes April 18-19. The tour includes houses on 9th Street, Myrtle, Penn, Piedmont and Argonne avenues, as well as several high-rise condominiums.

There may be  no more tantalizing area in Atlanta than Midtown to pique our curiosities. Diverse architectural points and decor lend guests a well-rounded point of view regarding Midtown's historical and modern identity.

The 2009 tour has gone "green." Truly a walking tour, guests will wander a specific part of the Midtown neighborhood on foot. A stop at Stonehurst Bed & Breakfast, one of the  featured homes, will allow tour participants to see one of the first Atlanta homes to have undergone a completely "green" renovation. As an added part to the tour, Trees Atlanta will host an Arboretum Walk.

Proceeds from the tour will go back into neighborhood projects, such as beautification, public safety and other enhancements. Guests are encouraged to continue the "green" theme by taking MARTA to the 10th Street stop instead of driving.
