East Andrews Cafe & Bar and sibling operation Andrews Upstairs are popular destinations for 20- and 30-somethings looking for drinks, dinner, music and dancing.
Located in a Spanish-style shopping center, East Andrews Cafe & Bar patrons can dine at patio tables around a tiled fountain or relax at the indoor paneled bar. The suave bartender, Ricky, turns pouring drinks into an art form, stacking glasses into pyraminds and filling them with a rainbow cascade of libations.
Inside, the venue offers flat-screen TVs and state-of-the-art sound systems, with weekend live acoustic performers.
The menu for brunch and lunch, served 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., features eggs Benedict, French toast, Scottish smoked salmon, tilapia fish fingers, make-your-own omelette, salads, sandwiches and sides. The dinner menu adds phyllo-wrapped baked brie, Maryland crab cakes, steaks, chicken and, for dessert, "Chocolate Decadence Cheesecake."
Signature drinks include the Georgia Peach and other flavored martinis; the Cafe Cosmo and a complete wine and champagne menu. This spot has made it to "Best of Atlanta" lists for being a great after-work bar for singles.
On weekends, Andrews Upstairs opens its doors to live music, including live cover bands and tribute bands. You may not be able to go to a Journey concert, but for less than $10 a ticket, you can listen to a tribute band in which every seat is close to the stage. Bragging that it's "Atlanta's most intimate concert setting," the venue has two bars and features a D.J. when live bands aren't playing. Adjacent to Andrews Upstairs is Sal's Pizzeria, serving hand-tossed slices Friday and Saturdays from 11 p.m.-3 a.m.
