Stout Irish Sports Pub: beer, darts and blarney

You'll probably find a few Irishmen — and many other not from the Green Isle of Erin — hanging out after work in this intimate Buckhead bar.

With 12 brews on tap, another 38 available by the bottle, 19 big-screen TV's, beer pong and tasty bar food, why fight the rush-hour traffic?

Pub food is a wee bit more ambitious than usual, with Irish whiskey wings, burgers, reuben sandwiches, fish or chicken and chips, bangers and mash in Guiness gravy, and something called Traditional Irish Boxty —  sausage, onion and potato pancakes with Guiness gravy.

There's always a dollar draft for those days before the paycheck comes, as well as 12 brews on draft, including Guiness and Beamish stout, House Signature Stout and Rogue Chocolate Stout, Smithwicks Ale, Harp Lager, Bass Pale Ale, the local Sweetwater 420, Boddingtons Pub Ale, Miller, Stella Artois and Strongbow Cider.

Bottled brews include a variety of dry, sweet, imperial, cream and oatmeal stouts as well as a wide menu of domestic and imported malted beverages from such locales as Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmand, England, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica and Mexico.

Sign up at the Stout website to receive a free beer and free lunch. While you're there, check out the calendar of events. Monday is league night for the Decatur Dart Association, with free pool after 11 p.m. Tuesday is Trivia night starting at 8:30 p.m., with free pool after 11 p.m. Thursday is singles' darts night and music from acoustic artists, digital juke box or a disc jockey. Saturday the games play all day long ; pull up a stool on Sundays for a day of NFL Sunday Ticket on Stout's big screen plasma TVs.

In the same complex, check out Cellar 56, for good wine and small plates of gourmet food, a pizza window, the East Andrews Cafe and Bar, and the East Andrews Upstairs music venue for live bands.
