Chateau Élan: a taste of France in the South
Published: Oct 29, 2009
At Chateau Elan, the vineyards of France are closer than you dreamed and still an idyllic world away, just as you had imagined.
Begun as an adventure in Muscadine wine making by entrepreneurs, Donald and Nancy Panoz, in 1981, the 3,500 acre Chateau Elan has grown into a world famous leisure destination, which produces award-winning wines.
Incredibly, the authentically beautiful French chateau, in Braselton, is only located 45 minutes north of Atlanta. Perhaps it’s the combination of Southern hospitality and French chic that makes Chateau Elan so irresistibly tranquil.
Whatever the estate’s secret charm, it’s worth a visit – again and again and again.
As the site of a premier full-production winery, luxurious hotel, European health spa, championship golf course, equestrian center and meeting venue, Chateau Elan never lacks for things visitors can see and do.
The estate’s Wine Market is a gateway into the world of wine. Take a guided tour and follow it up by stepping up to the bar and tasting some of the very wines you saw in production. A culinary studio onsite boasts cooking demonstrations and classes. After all, wine tastes better with food!
Stay overnight at the Chateau Elan Inn, where guests are treated like royalty. And wake up to a reservation on the course or at the spa. Those of us who like to be pampered may indulge in treatments such as massages, facials, hydrotherapy and much more; while our partners hit the links and develop their inner Tiger Woods.
Don’t worry about leaving the estate in search of food because Chateau Elan is home to seven restaurants that put a world of culinary flavors at your fingertips. From American to Mediterranean and Southern to Irish, the estate has it all.
When you tire of all the wine tasting, spa treatments and golf (if possible), take a swim, play some tennis, hike a trail, or pedal a bike.
A jam-packed events calendar means there is also something going on at the estate. To request information about holding a wedding, meeting or other social event at Chateau Elan, click here.
